New Hyde Park is an area that includes the incorporated Village of New Hyde Park in Nassau County, New York, as well as surrounding unincorporated areas. The incorporated Village of New Hyde Park is located in both the Town of Hempstead and the Town of North Hempstead. When a post office opened in 1871, the name was changed from Hyde Park to New Hyde Park to avoid confusion with the upstate Hyde Park. The village was incorporated in 1927.
