You would think that every home in America has smoke alarms these days, but a nationwide study of home inspections found that 45% of homes had either no smoke alarms, defective smoke alarms or smoke alarms with non-working batteries. Yikes!
When there’s a fire, smoke spreads fast and can be deadly. Smoke alarms give you an early warning so you can get outside quickly. Test all smoke alarms in your home monthly, replace batteries at least once a year and replace units when they are 10 years old. Can you remember the last time you checked yours?
